Audi is putting the final touches on the new
generation A6 Allroad Quattro, the popular jacked-up version of the A6 Avant. The test car of the 2019 A6 Allroad has lost most of its
camouflage, leaving just the bits that are model-specific under wraps such as
the fenders, the side sills and the bumpers.
The new A6 Allroad will also wear a new front grille
with six vertical strips to separate itself from its siblings and of course make
it look more rugged. The Quattro all-wheel drive system will be offered as standard and
probably come with a few off road-specific modes as part of the Allroad’s more
adventurous character. As with the previous generations, the new A6 Allroad
will use one petrol and one diesel unit from the engine range of the regular
A6.
At this point is still unconfirmed, but the engines
will probably be the 3.0-liter TFSI V6 with 335 hp and 500 Nm of torque and the 3.0-liter TDI V6 with 282 hp and 620 Nm of
torque. A lower-powered version of the 3.0-liter TDI V6 with 231 PS could also make its appearance under the rugged A6’s bonnet. The chassis will feature an
adaptive air suspension, which will give the driver the option to raise or
lower the car, depending on the driving environment.
Just as the regular A6 with the six-cylinder
engines, all powertrain options will feature the company’s latest mild-hybrid
technology, enabling them to coast at speeds between 55 km/h
and 160 km/h, feature a better stop-start system and reduce their fuel
consumption, as well as their CO2 ratings.
The new Audi A6 Allroad Quattro is expected to be
revealed towards the end of the year as a 2019MY model.
