Updated in new colours for the next year is the 2019
CRF1000 Honda Africa Twin, with pricing starting from RM 76,399 for the base
model CRF1000AL with ABS. Other models in the CRF1000 range are the CRF1000DL
with ABS and DCT gearbox at RM 82,999, the CRF1000AL2 Africa Twin Adventure
Sports ABS at RM 76,699 and CRF1000DL2 Adventure Sports with ABS and DCT at

Power for the Africa Twin comes from a 998 cc,
liquid-cooled, parallel-twin with SOHC that produces 93 hp at 7,500rpm with 99
Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Power gets to the ground either via a traditional
six-speed gearbox or Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and chain final
drive.
Updates for the 2018/2019 riding season include a
new airbox and exhaust internals, lighter balancer shaft, air pump in the
clutch housing, lithium-ion battery and ride-by-wire. Main difference between
the base model CRF1000L and the Adventure Sports version is the fuel, the base
model coming with a 18.8-litre tank while the Adventure Sports comes with a
24.3-litre long-range tank.
Other differences include seat height – the
CRF1000AL coming with a two-position seat at 870 mm and 850 mm for high and low
settings while the Adventure Sports version has a seat height of 900 mm in low
position and 920 mm in standard. The CRF1000L Adventure Sports also come with
longer wheel travel at 252 mm and 240 mm, front and rear, while the base
version has 230 mm and 220 mm wheel travel.
