Off-road racing specialists KTM have thoroughly revised and updated its
motocross and enduro motorcycle range for 2019, with 11 new models making it to
Malaysia. Starting with the 250 cc off-road range, the competition only 2019
KTM 250 SX-F is priced at RM 38,500, with the two-stroke KTM 250 EXC TPI enduro
going for RM 39,000.
Further up the range is the 2019 KTM 250 EXC TPI Six
Days – in 2018 the ISDE Six Days competition was held in Chile – which goes for
RM 42,500. The enduro model EXC-F comes in two flavours, base at RM 44,000 and
the Six Days version at RM 48,000.
There are two two-stroke 300 cc enduro models in
KTM’s 2019 range, the 300 EXC TPI at RM 44,000 and the 300 EXC TPI Six Days at
RM 48,000, similarly priced to the four-stroke 250 EXC-F bikes. In the 350
category are the 2019 KTM 350 EXC-F at RM 45,000 and 350 EXC-F Six Days at
RM 49,500.
Topping out the KTM Malaysia off-road range in 2019
are the KTM 450 EXC-F at RM 46,000 and the KTM 450 EXC-F Six Days at RM 50,500.
All 2019 KTM motorcycles officially imported into Malaysia by authorised
distributor Eurotech are now on display in KTM Malaysia dealer showrooms.
For 2019, major improvements have been made to the
handling prowess of KTM’s off-roaders, as well as weight reduction. Of note on
the 250 SX-F is a 40 mm longer sub-frame for safety on jumps and a 5 mm longer
swingarm to improve straight line stability.
The 250 SX-F also gets a steel diaphragm (DS) clutch
which takes the place of traditional clutch springs. This allows for a weight
reduction of 190 grammes in engine weight as well as three levels of clutch
engagement.
Able to be registered for on-road use, KTM’s EXC
enduro range ranges from 250 cc to 450 cc, with the 300 EXC two-stroke and 350
EXC four-stroke slotting neatly in the middle. For the 300 EXC, its two-stroke
engine uses twin injectors in the transfer ports, and 2-T lubricant is carried
in the frame backbone, eliminating the need for pre-mix, and delivered via an
electronically controlled oil pump.
Suspension on the EXC range is from WP Suspension,
with the fully-adjustable XPLOR 48 fork and XPLOR PDS monoshock. Optional for all
EXC models is traction control, which can be controlled on-the-fly, and is
standard fitment on the Six Days versions of the EXC.
Distinguished by its KTM Racing Orange frame, the
Six Days EXC is set apart from the base model by the inclusion of radiator fans
for all four-stroke models, floating front brake disc and solid rear brake disc
along with a SuperSprox two-piece rear sprocket. The Six Days logo is found all
over the EXC Six-Days, naturally, along with an anodised orange billet
aluminium upper and lower triple clamp.
