Nissan has updated the range of the best-selling
Qashqai compact SUV with their latest turbo petrol engine, a new dual-clutch
automatic transmission and more tech. The new turbocharged 1.3-litre
petrol engine, which was developed in collaboration with Daimler, replaces the 1.2- and
1.6-liter petrol options. Under the new Nissan Qashqai’s bonnet, the new petrol
engine will be offered with two outputs: 138 hp and 158 hp.
Both versions of the new 1.3-liter petrol Qashqai
will be paired to a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive as
standard, with a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic offered as an option in
the more powerful 158 hp version.
Both versions of the 1.3-liter engine emit as low as
121g/km of CO2 when fitted to a manual transmission, while the dual-clutch
158 hp version scores 122g/km of CO2. Fuel economy can get as low as 53.3mpg UK
(5.3l/100km) combined for both models. Nissan also claims that the new engines
offer improved response and performance, as well as a quieter driving
experience and extended service intervals.
Together with the new petrol engines, the updated
Nissan Qashqai features the company’s new infotainment system with Android
Auto, Apple CarPlay and over-the-air updates. The new system has a seven-inch
touchscreen display -the same as before- but now comes with fewer hard keys and
new multi-touch capability.
Nissan has also launched a new app for smartphones,
called Door to Door Navigation. According to the company, the new app offers
enhanced functionality, including planning a route on the phone and send it to
the car.
The new Nissan Qashqai will be launched in Europe
towards the end of the year.
