To highlight the fact that the 2019 T-Cross is a global model, Volkswagen has launched it almost simultaneously in Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai. The three cities represent the regions in which the T-Cross will be available: Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

Not all T-Cross models will be the same when it comes to features, materials, and even design. VW will adapt the product to each region, and the Chinese-spec T-Cross is the best example of that strategy. It’s obvious that the world’s largest car market will get a rather different model than the rest of the globe.

For some reason, VW has decided to give China’s T-Cross a distinct front-end design, one that will certainly create confusion among some buyers. That’s because the headlights and grille look almost identical with those of the Tiguan. The bumpers are changed as well and feature skid plates, with VW giving the T-Cross a more rugged look for China.

As for the taillights, they have the same shape as the Euro model but their signature is different. Finally, the Chinese model gets chrome door handles, while Europe’s T-Cross has body color handles.

As far as the interior goes, we don’t have photos of the Chinese-spec T-Cross yet. We do have official images of Latin America’s model, though, which looks like the European T-Cross on the outside but features some differences inside.

More specifically, the steering wheel is taken straight from the Polo and the dashboard looks more similar to the supermini’s than the Euro T-Cross. Notice the lack of a storage space above the touchscreen and the trim that separates the central display from the instrument panel. Finally, the materials used inside look cheaper too.
