BMW is putting the finishing touches on the
facelifted 7-Series and Carscoops spy photographers have now snapped pictures of the
upcoming Alpina B7. The updated model has a more
aggressive appearance as it adopts a sportier front bumper with a V-shaped
lower air intake. It is flanked by new vents which appear to direct air away
from the vehicle.
Further below, we can see a revised spoiler which
will likely have familiar Alpina badging. Other notable updates include
restyled headlights and a new hood. The profile of the car largely
carries over, but the side skirts may have been updated. That remains unclear
at the moment, but there’s no denying this is an Alpina variant thanks to its
iconic wheels which are backed up by blue calipers.
The rear end is heavily camouflaged and there
doesn’t appear to be any major changes. We can expect updated
taillights and a modified bumper. Like the standard 7-Series, the
Alpina B7 will receive an updated interior that features a new digital
instrument cluster and an infotainment system running BMW Operating System 7.0.
The latter has a cleaner layout, more intuitive operation and more
customization options.
The rest of the cabin should largely carryover, but
previous spy photos have shown facelifted 7-Series will have a new steering
wheel. We can also expect the usual Alpina upgrades including special badging
and premium leather upholstery.
There’s no word on performance changes, but the
current Alpina B7 xDrive has a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces 591
hp and 800 Nm of torque. It is connected to an
eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables
the luxury sedan to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 3.6 seconds before
hitting a top speed of up to 309 km/h.
The 2020 BMW 7-Series is expected to debut at the
Geneva Motor Show next year, so expect the Alpina variant to follow shortly
thereafter.
