Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer has confirmed the company had begun testing the DBS Superleggera Volante. We have
been waiting to see it ever since and now we can finally show it to you thanks
to Carscoops spy photographers.
We can’t see what it looks like without
the soft top, but one thing’s for sure: it looks mighty fine with it. The
prototype featured no camouflage whatsoever, allowing us to see the soft top in
its entirety.
We’re glad to say the fabric roof fits snugly on the
bodywork, helping the DBS Superleggera Volante retain the coupe’s dynamic
roofline. Granted, it should be a stunner with the roof down. The rest of the
car looks pretty much as you would expect and we can’t spot any other changes
compared to the fixed-roof model.
There shouldn’t be any modifications in the engine
bay either. The Volante will get the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine rated
at 715 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Mated to an eight-speed ZF
automatic transmission, the powerful engine should help the Volante achieve
very similar performance specs to the coupe.
Expect a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds
and a slightly lower top speed than the DBS Superleggera‘s 340 km/h (211 mph).
