The upcoming EV was previewed by the iX3 Concept
earlier this year in Beijing, China, and now the study is present at the 2018
Paris Auto Show alongside a host of premieres from the German brand, including
the all-new 3-Series.
On the outside, it is immediately obvious that the
EV is based on the latest X3. Closed off air intakes at the front, a new grille
and several other cues are an attempt at giving it a futuristic look in order
to differentiate it from the rest of the X3 range.
The electric powertrain packs 270 PS and is backed up by a 70 kWh battery. The latter can be charged in just 30
minutes via a 150 kW quick charger, and a maximum range of 400 km, as
per WLTP standards.
These specs are thought to be maintained in the
production model, which is already being tested on public roads. BMW hasn’t
announced when it plans to launch the finished item, but it could arrive as
early as next year.
