After taking it to Paris for its motor show premiere earlier this month, BMW has finally allowed journalists to sit behind the wheel of the 8-Series Coupe. Under Portugal’s sun, media representatives got the chance to experience the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe rival for the first time.

This means that the first reviews are underway, but until they arrive, enthusiasts have a gigantic image gallery at their disposal, released by BMW, which shows the  8-Series Coupe from nearly every angle, along with official videos.

Right now, European customers can choose between two versions of the 8-Series Coupe: the 840d and M850i. The former is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel producing 320 PS and 680 Nm of torque, and the latter by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 rated at 530 PS and 750 Nm of torque.

The base diesel model has an MSRP of € 100,000 (US$ 114,206) in Germany, whereas the petrol version starts from € 125,700 (€ 142,757).

In the U.S., BMW is offering only the M850i xDrive variant. Pricing kicks off at US$ 112,985 (€ 98,900) before State taxes and fees, and the first cars will arrive at dealers on December 8.
