Kwang Yang Motor Co, better known as Kymco, has
showcased the Kymco Like 110 EV and the Kymco Nice 100 EV electric scooters at
the INTERMOT 2018 in Cologne, Germany.
The Kymco Like 110 EV and the Kymco Nice 100 EV come
with the Ionex charging solutions, which makes use of lightweight, swappable
batteries that can be charged at home or office using charging stand. Kymco has
plans to install 1,500 Ionex charging stations in Taiwan, where customers can
charge the respective scooters.
The Kymco Like 110 EV comes with a retro design,
which is reminiscent of classic Italian scooters like the Vespa and Lambretta.
The Like 110 EV features an all-metal body with a simplistic design, clean
lines and a circular headlight. The e-scooter employs a 3kW electric motor that
offers a range of 60 km and a top speed of 45 km/h.
The Kymco Like 110 EV tips the weighing scales at
110 kg. It receives features like an all-digital instrument cluster, smartphone
connectivity with Facebook and WhatsApp message support, GPS navigation system
and weather alerts. On the other hand, the Kymco Nice 100 EV is an entry-level
and lighter electric scooter.
The Kymco Nice 100 EV has a weight of 77 kg. The
electric scooter uses a smaller 1.5kW motor that offers a similar range of 60
km as the Like 110 EV; however, it has a top speed of only 45 km/h. Unlike the
Like 110 EV, the Kymco Nice 100 EV comes devoid of any connectivity options.
Kymco has already announced its plans to enter the
Indian market sometime in 2021. While we are not sure whether the Kymco Nice
100 EV and the Like 110 EV will be the first products from the Taiwanese
company in India, the electric scooters will make for niche offerings in the
entry-level EV space.
