Instagram user wtfkrish has spotted the interior of the Mahindra Y400 (Mahindra Rexton) ahead of its launch this month. One of the biggest highlights of the interior is the 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that offers GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The dual-tone dashboard of the Mahindra Y400 has a dark grey top portion, faux wood insert in the centre and a brown lower portion. The spy mage reveals the quilted leather upholstery on the door pad, which is likely to be present even on the seats. A large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit takes centre stage on the dashboard. It will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity and will double up as a display for the 360-degree camera. A 7.0-inch multi-information display can be found in the infotainment cluster. Furthermore, the latest sighting reveals the gear lever of the new SUV's Mercedes-sourced automatic transmission.

Regarding design & styling, the Mahindra Y400/Rexton will mirror the G4 Ssangyong Rexton. The only change will be a new front grille with a Mahindra badge. The equipment list of the new SUV will include HID headlights, LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), leather upholstery, electric sunroof, ventilated seats and a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The safety net on offer should comprise nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electric parking brake, hill hold assist and traction control.

The flagship model in Mahindra's lineup will draw power from a 2.2-litre e-XDi220 LET turbocharged diesel engine that outputs a maximum power of 187 PS and a peak torque of 420 Nm. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic unit. Internationally, the latest-gen Rexton is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission. The Indian-spec model will be sold only with the diesel engine owing to the low demand for petrol-powered large SUVs.

Prices of the Mahindra Y400 could start at INR 23 lakhs. It will be a direct rival to the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
