Work has just
commenced on what’s bound to be the most outlandish Mercedes-Benz X-Class ever
built. The project is the brain child of Carlex Design’s pickup division,
Pickup Design, and will see an X-Class transformed into a six-wheeled beast
that could very well match the G63 6×6 for off-road capability and on-road
presence.
These renderings of
the vehicle show that it will enjoy a modified front fascia that includes a
heavy-duty winch, reshaped bumper, menacing bumper, and an LED light bar on the
roof. Elsewhere, the pickup will get off-road wheels and tires, flared wheel
arches and new side steps.
As with any
six-wheeled conversion, the most significant alterations will be made at the
rear. Carlex will stretch the pickup’s bed to ensure there’s room for an extra
axle and two more wheels. A series of alterations will also be made to the
shape of the pickup’s bed, including widened arches, a new tailgate, and the
fitment of a small lip spoiler. Additionally, Carlex will fit sharp rails to
both sides of the bed.
Carlex hasn’t
provided all that many details describing exactly how it will go about turning
these renderings into a reality. However, if the finished product does end up
looking this good, X-Class owners may start lining up for their own 6×6
conversions.
