Brabus has chosen the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show as the
venue for the world premiere of the new 700 Widestar based on the new
Mercedes-AMG G63. As the name suggests, it’s a souped-up G63 that
boasts 700 PS and a wide body kit, among many other things. Thanks to
the B40-700 performance upgrade, Brabus has squeezed an extra 115 PS from the Mercedes-AMG G63’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, for a total of 700 PS at 6,100 rpm.
Peak torque also rises from 850 Nm to 950 Nm,
available between 2,500 and 3,500 rpm. Linked to the nine-speed
Speedshift TCT transmission and permanent all-wheel-drive system, the powerful
V8 thrusts the Brabus 700 Widestar from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3
seconds.
The top speed is limited electronically to 240 km/h to protect the tires. All attempts to hit the official performance
figures will be met by a throaty V8 sound courtesy of the sports exhaust system
with actively controlled exhaust flaps.
The German tuner makes sure the 700 Widestar doesn’t
go unnoticed thanks to a beefier kit that includes 100-mm wider wheel arches,
forged wheels ranging from 20 to 23 inches, stainless steel exhausts on either
side, wider bumpers, and a roof-mounted wing. In true Brabus tradition, the
front part of the roof also hosts an auxiliary light bar.
As for the interior, Brabus can tailor it to the
customer’s wishes, offering an array of Mastik leather and Alcantara
appointments available in a wide color palette. The wood and carbon fiber trim
are also offered in many colors and designs.
The vehicle on display in Monaco features a two-tone
all-leather interior combining vanilla and black, with the seat center sections
made of perforated Mastik leather in shell-shaped quilting. The orange piping
and vanilla-colored seams bring a touch of color to the cabin.
