Toyota decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of
the HiLux with a number of special Invincible editions and here is the new HiLux Invicible 50. The new Toyota HiLux Invincible 50 has been engineered in collaboration
with Arctic Trucks, the Iceland-based specialist company that’s behind a number
of tastefully modded pickup trucks for extreme off-road driving.
The new limited edition of the Toyota HiLux features
a performance suspension from Arctic Trucks and Bilstein; ground clearance has
been increased by 40mm at the front and 20mm at the back, while there’s added
articulation as well, making sure no volcanic rocks will stop you from getting
to your destination.
The new suspension components are combined with
16×7.5 alloy wheels finished in satin black and wrapped with 265/75 BF Goodrich
all-terrain tires. Toyota claims that the new combo of suspension-tires doesn’t
ruin the on-road performance, as it keeps it “smooth and confident”.
Other special features include wider front and rear
fenders, a double-hoop sports bar upon which are mounted four high-power Vision
X LED lights, mudflaps, a tough Line-X bed liner and more. Inside you get a
numbered Invincible 50 plaque.
Mechanically, the Toyota HiLux Invincible 50 is the
same with its more humble siblings, meaning it’s powered by a 148 hp 2.4-liter
four-cylinder diesel engine which here is paired to a six-speed automatic
transmission.
Standard equipment includes Toyota Safety Sense with
Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Warning and Road Sign Assist, cruise
control, dusk-sensing headlights, Toyota Touch 2 with Go multimedia system,
automatic air conditioning, smart entry and start and rear privacy glass. Toyota will offer just 50 examples of the HiLux
Invincible 50 in the UK, with order books to open on November 1. Prices will be
announced shortly.
