The first lot of
Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Editions has been delivered to six customers
in the Philippines. The bikes were handed over to the respective owners at the
1st Philippine Moto Heritage Weekend, which was organised alongside the
Philippine Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.
The Classic 500
Pegasus Edition is limited to 1,000 units globally, with 250 units reserved for
the domestic market. Globally, the Pegasus Edition is offered in two paint
schemes - Olive Drab Green and Service Brown. The motorcycle features the
Pegasus emblem with an exclusive serial number stencil on the fuel tank and a 'Made
Like a Gun' graphic on the battery box.
Royal Enfield
Classic 500 Pegasus Edition receives brown handlebar grips, a leather strap
with brass buckles on the air-filter box, and matte black finish to the
headlight bezel, wire-spoke wheels, exhaust canister, and the kickstart lever.
The motorcycle also comes with accessories like military-style canvas
saddlebags with a Pegasus Logo, a Pegasus edition T-shirt and helmet.
The Royal Enfield
Classic 500 Pegasus Edition employs a 499 cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke,
air-cooled engine. The fuel-injected motor is tuned to pump out a maximum power
of 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. The engine
works in harmony with a 5-speed transmission that sends power to the wheel via
a final chain drive.
Suspension duty on
the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition is handled by telescopic forks at
the front and twin coil-spring shock absorbers at the back. Anchorage comes
from a 280 mm rotor at the front with 2-piston calliper and a 240 mm rear disc
brake with a single-piston calliper.
While dual channel
ABS is standard on the global-spec Classic 500 Pegasus Edition, the Indian
version doesn’t get it even as an option. Royal Enfield received backlash from
Pegasus owners after it launched the Classic 350 Signals Edition in August in
India, which gets a dual-channel ABS. The bike features 19-inch front and
18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels that pair with 90/90-section and 120/80-section
tube-type tyres at the front and back, respectively.
