Alongside the many custom Mustang concepts Ford has
on display at the 2018 SEMA Show, there’s a pony car you can actually buy. It’s called the Series 1 Mustang
RTR Powered by Ford Performance and it’s the result of the automaker’s
collaboration with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his RTR Vehicles team.
You’ll recognize the latest addition to the Mustang
family thanks to several RTR signature styling cues. Those include the RTR
grille with lighting, body and aerodynamics packages, as well as graphics that
hint at the car’s performance.
Other exterior tweaks consist of the Performance
Pack 1 spoiler with RTR Gurney flap and the staggered wheel and tire package.
The latter combines 19 x 9.5-inch front wheels with, and 19 x 10-inch rear
wheels.
Elsewhere on the bodywork, the Series 1 Mustang RTR
features RTR badging on the grille, fenders, and decklid trim panel. The
interior offers RTR floor mats and shift knob, illuminated “RTR Powered by Ford
Performance” sill plates, a certificate of authenticity, and a serialized dash
plaque. Performance-wise, the only upgrade is the Ford Performance suspension
with adjustable sway bars that can change the chassis balance to suit various
types of driving, including drifting.
The Series 1 package is designed to fit any Mustang
EcoBoost Performance Package 1 or Mustang GT Performance Package 1 model.
Dealers can install it and it comes with a Ford factory limited warranty. The
pack will arrive in select Ford dealerships in early 2019 in a limited run of
500 units.
