Skoda Auto has silently launched the Superb
Sportline in India. The sportier variant of the mid-size sedan costs INR 28.99
lakh* onwards in our market. The Skoda Superb Sportline gives away some of its classy executive
styling for sportier looks. Unlike in Europe, there are no
drive-related changes in our market. It doesn’t get a sports chassis and Skoda
didn’t see a point in offering the LapTimer function either.
The Indian-spec Skoda Superb Sportline comes with
glossy black details such as the grille, ORVMs, window frames, side door strips
and 5th door spoiler, as well as darkened front fog lamps, SportLine badge on
front wheel arches and 17-inch Drakon alloy wheels.
The all-black cabin with Alcantara upholstery has
contrasting red inserts on the dashboard and door panels. The front occupants
sit on sports seats, and the driver gets to enjoy a ‘SuperSport’ steering wheel
with silver stitching and chrome pedals. Other highlights include door sill
strips in sports design, carbon decor with LED ambient lighting and a
glass-encased 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Skoda Superb Sportline is available with the
same two engines as the standard variant; both coupled to an automatic
transmission. The 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine produces 180 PS and 250 Nm of
torque, while the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine develops 177 PS and 350 Nm of
torque. The petrol engine is paired with the 7-speed DSG, while the diesel
engine is matched with the 6-speed DSG.
