Suzuki is reportedly planning to introduce an ABS
variant of the GSX-R150 for the Indonesian market. Local media reports that the
two-wheeler brand will unveil the ABS-equipped model in the country at the 2018
Indonesia Motorcycle Show scheduled from October 31 to November 4, 2018. The
GSX-R150 ABS will compete against the newly launched 2019 Honda CBR150R that
also benefits from the safety feature.
Suzuki offers the GSX-R150 in two variants –
Standard and Keyless – in Indonesia. A report from Indonesian blog Iwanbanaran
suggests that the safety net of ABS will arrive on the premium (keyless)
version of the fully faired motorcycle. The premium version retails for IDR 30
million. The source report suggests that IDR 35
million price tag will still make the
GSX-R150 ABS a lucrative package.
In July 2018, PT. Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) had
introduced a new colour option for the Suzuki GSX-R150 in the Indonesian
market, Brilliant White - CW Vigor Blue. Other colour options on the Suzuki
GSX-R150 include Solid Black, Stronger Red-Titan Black, Metallic Triton Blue
and Titan Black.
Mechanical specifications are not likely to change,
and thus the motorcycle will continue to use the same 147.3 cc, liquid-cooled,
single-cylinder, DOHC engine that is paired with a 6-speed transmission. The
fuel-injected motor is tuned to deliver a maximum power of 19 bhp at 10,500 rpm
and peak torque of 14 Nm of at 9,000 rpm. Stopping power comes from disc
brake on both ends while the safety net of ABS, as mentioned before, is
reportedly heading to the Indonesian market.
The motorcycle comes with 17-inch alloy wheels that
are wrapped in 90/80 R17 front and 130/70 R17 rear tubeless tyres. The fuel
tank capacity stands at 11-litre while the kerb weight tips the weighing scale
at 131 kg. Conventional telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable
monoshock at the rear perform suspension duties. The feature list on the
motorcycle includes a LED headlight, an all-digital instrument console (similar
to the Gixxer range that is sold in the Indian market) and Suzuki Easy Start
System among others.
