TVS Motor Company has launched the TVS Jupiter
Grande top-spec variant in India. The drum brake version costs INR 55,936*,
while the disc brake model is priced at INR 59,648*. Highlights of the TVS Jupiter
Grande variant include LED headlight and a semi-digital instrument console,
diamond-cut alloy wheels (disc brake version-only), quilted maroon-coloured
seat cover and new Starlight Blue paint scheme with beige panels and a body
coloured pillion grab rail. The scooter features chrome embellishments on the
front fender, rear view mirrors and the exhaust shield as well.
Mechanically, the TVS Jupiter Grande remains
identical to the standard model. The 109.7 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, OHC
motor is capable of developing 8 bhp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and a peak
torque of 8 Nm at 5,500 rpm. It is mated to a CVT. An adjustable rear monoshock
is exclusive to the disc-brake variant, while telescopic front forks are
standard.
Braking power comes from standard drum brakes at
both the ends, while a front disc is available as an option. The scooter comes
equipped with Sync Brake System as standard. An under-seat USB charging port is
available as an optional accessory.
The TVS Jupiter competes with the likes of the Honda
Activa 5G, Hero Duet and the Yamaha Fascino.
