In the real world, Volvo has a very clear vision
with regards to where they want to get. Their current cars are stylish, smart,
safe and comfortable, and the ones in the pipeline should build on those
attributes while adding improved efficiency and on-board tech.
Now, if you want something fast and Swedish and
can’t afford a Koenigsegg, you can always rely on Polestar, Volvo’s standalone
performance electrification brand. Their first model, the Polestar
1, will go into production next year, while Polestar 2 and 3 are said to
already be in advanced stages of development. Yet, odds are it’s going to be a
long time (if ever) before we get something along the lines of a Rimac C_Two,
or even a Porsche 918 Spyder, from the Swedes.
With that in mind, check out this pretty interesting
sketch by Joe Croker showing a hypothetical Volvo hypercar, either all-electric
or a plug-in hybrid, with certain styling cues that have been borrowed from the
automaker’s current range of production cars.
The overall design is of course unlike anything else
Volvo has out there. However, you can see that the render features the brand’s
Thor’s Hammer headlights, as well as a taillight aesthetic that’s partially
C-shaped, like on their latest saloons.
Even though Volvo coming out with anything
resembling this is completely unrealistic (at least for the time being), as car
enthusiasts, we would not mind it one bit.
