For those wanting the open-air experience of a motorcycle but prefer a little more front end tyre grip, the 2019 Adiva AD3-400 might fit the bill. Coming in two versions, the AD3-400 base version retails at RM 38,800 and the alloy wheel model which adds RM 1,650 to the price for a total of RM 40,450.

While roofed scooters are not new in the motorcycle market, the AD3-400 is a true convertible, with the roof able to be folded and stowed in the rear cargo compartment. As a leaning scooter, the AD3-400 uses two wheels in front connected to a double wishbone suspension.

The AD3-400’s engine forms part of the rear swing arm, which is suspended by twin shock absorbers five-step adjustable for preload. The front wishbone arms which allow for the leaning action of a true motorcycle use a single shock absorber nestled in between the arm links.

Power for the AD3-400 comes from a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled OHC power plant that displaces 399 cc and produces 36.7 hp at 7,250 rpm and 38.1 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Fed by EFI, the AD3-400 carries fuel in an 11-litre tank and transmission is CVT.

Rolling on 13-inch wheels in front and a 14-inch hoop in the back, braking on the Adiva AD3-400 is done with twin 220 mm diameter discs in front and a single 230 mm diameter disc on the rear wheel. There are five colour choices available for the AD3-400 – Black, Blue, Graphite, Red and White.
