Lexus might expand their high-riding vehicle family
with a new flagship model that’s aimed at the Lamborghini Urus, Aston Martin
DBX et al. This piece of information comes from Japan’s Spyder7, which claims
that Toyota’s luxury brand might unveil it during a major automotive event in
2020, before launching it the year after.
Believed to have been previewed by the LF-1
Limitless Concept, the yet-to-be-named SUV will allegedly sit on the TNGA
platform, and be 5,000 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,590 mm tall, with a 2,974 mm wheelbase, which would make it slightly
shorter, narrower and lower than the Lamborghini Urus.
Base models will reportedly be powered by the LS
500’s twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, albeit with a tad more power, at 430 PS. The same engine might be coupled to a couple of electric motors for
a hybrid variant.
As for the top-of-the-line flavor, this is said to
use a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. This is the unit that might power the
rumored LS F sedan, and in Lexus’ high-riding vehicle, it’ll allegedly produce
an impressive 670 PS. That would make it 20 PS more powerful than the Lamborghini Urus, which sprints to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h.
If such a super SUV gets the green light for
production, it will offer a very luxurious interior, jammed with the brand’s
latest technologies.
