The 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show will soon be upon us,
and Audi has begun teasing one of its creations that will go on display at the
event. Called the e-tron GT, the four-door, all-electric concept is the work of
the company’s Audi Sport division.
This isn’t the first time the show car has been
teased, as we’ve already been given an early look at it in sketch form during
the global debut of the e-tron SUV.
No technical information pertaining to the car’s
electric powertrain, but we’ve been told the e-tron GT will be underpinned by
the J1 platform used for the upcoming Porsche Taycan. As a point of reference,
the Taycan features a 600 hp powertrain that can do 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
It is also capable of a range of more than 500 km on
a single charge, with support for fast charging, allowing it to regain 100 km
of range after being plugged in for just four minutes. Whether or not Audi’s
concept will mimic these figures, we’ll have to wait for the start of the show
to find out. Similarly, Audi has yet to confirm if it will put the e-tron GT into
production. In San Francisco, the carmaker revealed its e-offensive plan,
whereby it plans to introduce 20 new electrified models by 2025.
