This lone image of the Jawa 300 Classic roadster
from its promotional shoot has been circulating on the web today. Jawa Motorcycles released a new
video last week, which suggests that the company will unveil four bikes in
India on November 15. With that said, a report from September claimed that Classic
Legends could introduce three bikes in India.
Coming back to the leaked image, the Jawa 300
Classic features a black single-piece leather seat. Suspension duties are
carried out by telescopic forks at the front and gas-charged twin shock
absorbers at the rear. The bike runs on wire-spoke wheels that wrap on MRF
Tyres. Anchorage comes from a front disc and a rear drum setup while a
single-channel ABS is standard.
The first Jawa motorcycle will be powered by an
all-new 293 cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection. The
single-cylinder motor pumps out 27 bhp of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak
torque, while it will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is BS-VI
compliant and is tuned for a flat torque curve and strong mid-range.
The retro appeal of the Jawa 300 Classic is further
enhanced by chrome detailing to the peripherals. The modern-retro styling of
the Jawa 300 Classic and the torquey engine will help it to compete with its
fiercest rival - the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
The first Jawa motorcycle is expected to be launched
in India by early 2019. It could get a price tag of INR 1.50 lakh
(ex-showroom). Apart from the Classic 350, the bike will rival the Thunderbird
350, UM Renegade Commando and the Bajaj Avenger 220.
