Classic Legends Pvt Ltd will unveil a range of
new-age Jawa motorcycles on 15 November at an event in Mumbai. While official
details of the models are scarce at the moment, a teaser released by the
company shows scrambler, classic, café racer and bobber models.
The Jawa 300 Scrambler is a tall motorcycle with an
upright stance. Highlights include upside-down front forks, knobby tires, and a
high-set front mudguard. Other than this, the bike should offer a tall
handlebar, large disc brakes on spoke wheels, a high-set exhaust end-can,
rubberised knee recess on the fuel tank, and a leather-wrapped flat seat.
Reportedly, the Jawa 300 Scrambler is one of the
three Jawa motorcycles that will be unveiled later this month. The first of the
new models is the 300 Classic that was recently spied for the first time in
India. Powering the new Jawa motorcycles is an all-new 293 cc, DOHC,
liquid-cooled engine that benefits from fuel injection. The single-pot motor
produces a maximum power of 27 bhp and a peak torque 0f 28 Nm. It comes mated
to a six-speed transmission, and is compliant with the BSVI emission norms.
The motorcycle should feature at least a single-channel
ABS as standard, to meet new legislation that mandates ABS on all two-wheelers
featuring an engine displacing over 125cc. Furthermore, both front and rear
suspension are likely to offer long travel helping the new motorcycle
comfortably tread off the beaten tarmac.
The Jawa 300 Scrambler is expected to launch with a
sub-INR 2 lakh price tag and become a direct rival to the Royal Enfield
Himalayan.
