Kia Malaysia has officially released the pricing for
the facelifted Kia Grand Carnival. Two variants are available – the entry-level
KX is priced at RM 155,888 and the range-topping SX costs RM 184,888. Both are
on-the-road prices sans insurance.
Mechanically, both MPVs are powered by the same 2.2
litre CRDI four-cylinder turbodiesel engine from before, making 200 PS and 441
Nm of torque. A new eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the
older six-speed unit, is employed to send power to the front wheels.
To recap, the midlife update brings a few changes to
the table, most notably the redesigned front and rear end and an electronic
parking brake (no more foot brake). Design-wise, the Grand Carnival KX gets the
same “tiger nose” grille (the SX gets a mesh grille insert) as before, and it
gets a pair of redesigned headlamps with LED daytime running lights and halogen
projector units.
The SX, on the other hand, gets auto-levelling LED
headlamps with LED DRLs and “ice cube” LED fog lamps instead of halogen
projectors on the KX. At the back, there are new graphics for the LED tail
light clusters, as well as a new bumper design with integrated reflectors and
fog lamps. The KX’s 18-inch alloy wheels are a new design, and the SX gets a two-tone
version of these rollers instead of the previous chrome 19s.
On the inside, standard features include manual
fabric seats with two-way powered lumbar adjustment, electrochromic rear-view
mirror, sunshade blinds for the second and third row seats, USB and auxiliary
inputs, powered sliding doors as well as leather-wrapped multifunction steering
wheel. The SX gets woodgrain trim.
For the KX, there’s a 3.5-inch multi-info display,
eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Android Auto and
Apple CarPlay functionalities, triple-zone auto climate control, a
proximity-based handsfree Smart Tailgate and heated steering wheel. Also added
here are USB fast-charging port and a large storage compartment behind the
centre console.
The SX gets upgraded to a seven-inch Supervision
multi-info display, eight-way powered front seats with driver’s side memory, Qi
wireless charging tray for compatible smartphones and leather upholstery. A new
Active Eco mode (standard for both models) has been integrated into the revised
centre tunnel which, when depressed, will optimise the engine, transmission and
air-conditioning for fuel efficiency.
Safety-wise, the SX gets the new Blind Spot
Collision Warning with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Hill-start
Assist Control, and both models get six airbags, stability control and three
Isofix points – two on the outer middle row, and one more on the driver’s side
of the last row. Available colours are Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl,
Silky Silver and Panthera Metal.
