KTM India has launched the ABS variant of its
current entry-level product, the 200 Duke. The motorcycle was launched in India
at an ex-showroom Delhi price tag of INR 1,60,000 and will be available in
three colours options – Orange, White and Black across 450 exclusive KTM
showrooms in India.
While KTM India did not make any announcement about
the ABS variant of the RC200 yet, we expect to see it arriving very soon.
Regular readers would know that the new safety norms, scheduled to come into
action from April 2019, mandate ABS for all motorcycles with a displacement of
more than 125cc.
That said, the non-ABS variant is expected to be
discontinued very soon, and it should be available until the stock lasts. The
non-ABS version of the Bajaj Dominar 400 seems to have been suspended as the
official website currently lists the pricing for the ABS model only.
Apart from the addition of ABS, there are no visual
or mechanical changes to the motorcycle. Thus, the ABS-equipped KTM 200 Duke
continues to draw 25 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 19.2 Nm of peak
torque at 8,000 clicks from its 199.5cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder,
fuel-injected engine. The motor comes mated with a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware list remains identical to the non-ABS
version and thus stopping power comes from a 280 mm single disc at the front
and a 230mm disc at the rear. The Bosch sourced ABS is aimed to offer better
stopping power to the motorcycle. Upside down suspension at the front and a
monoshock at the rear perform the shock absorption tasks. Other equipment
includes a trellis frame and aluminium swingarm.
In other updates, KTM is expected to launch the 125
Duke in the Indian market, but we are yet to hear any confirmation or a launch
date.
