Spy photographers have caught the Mercedes GLB on numerous occasions and now we’re getting a closer look at the entry-level AMG variant. Recently spotted undergoing testing, the 2020 GLB 35 has a sport-tuned suspension which significantly lowers the ride height. The reduction is so significant that the GLB actually appears to have less ground clearance than one of the hatchbacks in the background.
Besides the sportier suspension, the model has
been equipped with large alloy wheels that cover a high-performance braking system with cross-drilled discs. We can also see a temporary dual exhaust system which exits through cuts out in the bumper.

There doesn’t appear to be any other styling changes, but can expect some minor updates in the cabin. Like the Mercedes-AMG A35, the GLB 35 should have a flat-bottomed steering wheel, microfiber accents and red contrast stitching. We can also expect an assortment of AMG-specific displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.

Talking about similarities with the A35, the GLB 35 is expected to use the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 301 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It should be connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a performance-oriented all-wheel drive system.

There’s no word on how fast the GLB 35 will be, but the A35 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of250 km/h. Of course, the GLB probably won’t be as quick as the model has worse aerodynamics and should weigh significantly more.
