The second-generation Range Rover Evoque is set to
make its world debut in London on November 22, and the carmaker has started the
countdown with a fleet of wire form sculptures inspired by the new model. Four
of the sculptures were parked at high-end addresses around Kensington and
Chelsea, finished in distinctive shades of copper, red and blue.
The installations were produced by the same Land
Rover design team responsible for shaping the new Evoque and embody the
“reductive design” philosophy that has led to its elegant proportions. Blending
simple lines with modernity, the 1:1 scale wire forms showcase a fast roofline
and rising waistline. Based on the lines seen here, the new Evoque will be an
evolutionary design, which is exactly how you replace an icon.
The Tata-owned sister company of Jaguar said the new
Evoque promises to make a similar impact as the original, introducing new
standards of design, capability and sustainability. Reports mention a significantly
upgraded platform called the Premium Transverse Architecture, which will bring
better ride comfort and refinement thanks to a stiffer body structure. A 10%
reduction of drag and wind noise thanks to improved aerodynamics, and
‘see-through’ bonnet technology were also mentioned by Autocar. Check out the
spyshots below for a glimpse of the new Evoque’s interior.
