These
new spy shots confirm the fact that the A4 will be given a proper facelift
soon. Two Audi A4 Avant prototypes spotted in Sweden undergoing winter testing
had their entire lower half covered in camouflage.
That fact alone points at some comprehensive styling
updates coming our way. The grille is significantly updated gaining a pointier
appearance, while the headlights seem to be totally new. The DRLs integrated
into the headlamps have a different design as well, as does the front bumper. On the sides, the fenders look
slightly more muscular to give the car more presence and are an homage to the
legendary Audi Ur-Quattro.
Compared to the front, rear end updates are less
obvious, with the lower part of the bumper gaining a more aggressive appearance
as well as rectangular tailpipes. The taillights seem to be unchanged but Audi
will probably fit new ones as the development continues.
Bigger changes will take place inside, as Audi is
expected to give the car a dash layout inspired by the current A6 as well as
the latest tech available. Powertrain changes are also in the cards for the
facelifted Audi A4 but it’s too early to talk specifics. The refreshed model
will debut in late 2019 and arrive in dealerships in early 2020.
