According to AutoNews, Cadillac XT6 will
premiere on the eve of January 13, the opening day the car show. We reached out to Cadillac hoping
for official confirmation, and all we got was that “Cadillac will debut a new
vehicle next month, but we haven’t confirmed any additional details.”
The brand’s upcoming challenger to the likes of the
Lincoln Aviator will slot between the XT5 and Escalade, and will be offered
with three rows of seats. Design wise, the XT6 is believed to have been influenced by the 2016
Escala Concept. Also, it should follow in the footsteps of the smaller XT4 and
XT5 in terms of styling, with a prominent grille and rakish windscreen, among
others.
Inside, buyers should expect the premium build
quality that Cadillac has gotten its clients used to, along with the latest
technology features. eneath the skin of the 2020 Cadillac XT6 lies the LWB version of the
C1XX platform. It’s shared with the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse, and
this probably means that it will get the same 3.6-liter V6 engine as its
siblings. In theose two, it makes 310 hp and 367
Nm of torque, and is mated to a nine-speed auto.
However, Cadillac is expected to launch more
powertrains in due course, and among the likely candidates we find a
turbocharged unit and a plug-in hybrid. The 2020 XT6 might arrive at
dealerships next summer, and could be put together at the Spring Hill facility,
in Tennessee, which received a US$ 294 million injection from GM to prepare for
the production of a Cadillac crossover.
