The eighth-gen Toyota Camry is now official in
India. Toyota Kirloskar Motor has listed the all-new Camry on the Indian
website and released its first teaser video. The company will launch the
all-new model on 18 January 2019.
The eighth generation Camry measures 4,885 mm in
length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,445 mm in height. It has a 2,825 mm wheelbase.
There’s only one version on sale globally this time, although customers select
between contrasting personalities. In India, we expect the 'elegantly designed'
exterior seen in these images with a distinctive lower grille - a single, large
intake with horizontal bars.
The latest Camry is available in multiple
configurations internationally. In Thailand, options include the 6AR-FBS 2.0-litre
petrol engine (167 PS/199 Nm) or the A25A-FKB 2.5-litre petrol engine (209
PS/250 Nm), with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The range includes a Hybrid variant which combines
the A25A-FXS 2.5-litre petrol engine (178 PS/221 Nm) and the 3NM electric motor
(120 PS/202 Nm). The maximum net output is 211 PS. An E-CVT sends the drive to
the wheels. Toyota Kirloskar Motor has decided to offer only this variant.
Noteworthy features of the all-new Toyota Camry will
likely include LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog
lamps, LED rear combination lamps, head-up display, 7-inch MID, triple-zone
climate control, capacitive rear touch controller for comfort and multimedia
functions, and nine airbags.
India will receive the all-new Toyota Camry in the
CKD form from Thailand, with the assembly in Bidadi (Karnataka). Prices may
start at around INR 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
