A camouflaged test mule of the Benelli TRK 502 X
adventure tourer was recently caught on camera somewhere in India. The TRK 502
motorcycle range, which comprises two models – the road-biased TRK 502, and the
off-road spec TRK 502X, has been confirmed for our market.
Both variants use a 20-litre fuel tank that, along
with a claimed economy of 25.64 km/l, should deliver a range of 500 km between
fuel stops. Standard features include semi-digital instrument cluster and a
tall windshield while the optional accessories would comprise saddle stays,
luggage panniers and a top box case with rear parcel rack.
The TRK 502 and TRK 502 X are currently on display
at the 2018 Thai Motor Expo. Both share the same design but feature different
components. The road-biased Benelli TRK 502 features 17-inch alloy wheels on
both ends that are wrapped in road-spec tyres while the off-road spec TRK 502 X
(pictured above) comes with wire spoke wheels with a 19-inch front. The 19-inch
front wheel enhances its off-roading capabilities.
Both motorcycles use a 499.6 cc, liquid-cooled,
8-valve, parallel twin-cylinder FI engine that comes mated to a 6-speed
gearbox. The motor delivers 46 bhp of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 45 Nm of
peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
Hardware list includes upside-down forks at the
front and a preload and rebound adjustable mono-shock at the back. 320 mm twin
front discs with a two-piston calliper at the front and 260 mm single disc at
the rear with single-piston calliper perform anchoring tasks while dual-channel
ABS comes as standard.
