Honda is not the
only one showing off upgraded versions of its vehicles at the Tokyo Auto Salon
next month. The company’s long-associated tuner, Mugen, will be exhibiting a
few of the aesthetic accessories for the CR-V, Insight and N-VAN, which have
just been introduced in the Japanese market.
All models get
skirting on the front, sides and rear – the CR-V’s boxy two-tone bodykit was
previewed on the CR-V Mugen Concept at the recent Kuala Lumpur International
Motor Show (KLIMS). The SUV also gains a two-tone grille with Mugen badging, a
prominent rear wing, door visors and 19-inch MDR alloy wheels that were not
fitted to the local show car.
Meanwhile, the
Insight receives a body-coloured grille garnish to mask off the large frontal
aperture. Also fitted to the hybrid sedan are carbon fibre wing mirror caps and
rear spoiler, along with fake carbon door handle guards, 18-inch MDA
multi-spoke alloys and a sports exhaust system with twin pipes.
Lastly, the N-VAN
kei car gets a black front spoiler with LED illumination, a black grille
garnish and a rear diffuser-like bumper insert, plus Mugen side graphics and a
curious motorsports-inspired number decal on the rear side windows. It too gets
a sports exhaust, along with door visors and 12-inch MD 5 alloys.
Aside from these
vehicles, Mugen will also introduce a refined, pre-production version of the
Civic Type R Mugen RC 20 GT concept – presumably to polish off some of the
rough edges of the supremely hideous original – as well as a Mugen Civic Type R
Prototype.
