Jaguar India has
launched the XJ50, a special model that commemorates the fiftieth anniversary
of the XJ, at INR 1,11,30,000 (Ex-showroom). The exterior updates carried by
the Jaguar XJ50 include 'Autobiography-style' front and rear bumpers, new
19-inch alloy wheels, chrome radiator grille with chrome surround, and new
badges at the rear and near the side vents. Exterior colour options for the new
model include - Fuji White, Santorini Black, Loire Blue and Rosello Red.
On the inside, the
Jaguar XJ50 offers soft-grain diamond-quilted seat upholstery with the
signature leaper logo embossed on the headrests and on the centre armrest. The
cabin features anodised steering-mounted gearshift controls and metal-finished
pedals. Furthermore, the anniversary edition is differentiated through intaglio
branding and XJ50-badged illuminated sill plates.
Launched back in
2009, the current generation Jaguar XJ is in the final stage of its lifecycle.
Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director, has confirmed that the next generation XJ
will be larger and will have a roomier cabin. The completely redesigned XJ will
reportedly debut a new design language and looks likely to be based on a new
aluminium architecture that will be shared with a new Range Rover model that is
internally called the ‘Range Rover Road Rover’.
