Mercedes has started accepting orders on the new 2019 E350 Coupe and Cabriolet models, which are powered by a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain. The new E350 combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with the brand’s EQ Boost hybrid system comprised of a belt-driven starter/alternator and a 48-volt electrical system. The EQ Boost adds 14 hp to the overall output, which is set at 299 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

The mild hybrid powertrain is paired to the company’s 9G-Tronic Plus nine-speed automatic transmission. 0-100 km/h comes in a claimed 5.9 seconds for the Coupe and 6.1 seconds for the Cabriolet. Another interesting fact is that the specific powertrain is exclusive to this E-Class version, at least in the UK.

Since this is a mild hybrid, we need to talk about fuel economy. Mercedes claims 40.9 mpg UK (6.9 lt/100 km) combined and CO2 emissions of 158gr/km (Cabriolet: 39.8 mpg UK, 163gr/km of CO2).

Standard equipment is quite generous, and includes features like the big 12.3-inch digital displays for the dashboard, blind spot assist, illuminated door sills, 19-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, privacy glass, ambient lighting, open-pore ash wood trim and black Artico leather upholstery.

For an additional £ 3,450 (£ 4,395 for the Coupé), you can opt for the Premium Plus package that adds a Burmester surround sound system, keyless-go and a panoramic sunroof (the latter in the Coupe only for obvious reasons).

Pricing for the new E350 Coupe starts from £ 44,750 OTR, while its Cabriolet sibling is priced from £ 49,246. Mercedes will begin delivering the first customers cars in the UK in spring 2019.
