As Mercedes moves towards having a electrified
version of each model in its lineup, it goes without saying that their
performance-oriented models will also sport hybrid or all-electric variants. This rendering of an an electric
SL, labelled the EQSL, was thought up by Peisert Design, the creator of a
Rolls-Royce Cullinan drawing, from November of last year. Of course, the Rolls
was based on multiple spy images that were already available at that time,
whereas this electrified SL is just a styling exercise.
At the same time, Mercedes has already announced the
next-gen SL will go down a different path than the current roadster, so it very
well transform into a driver-oriented coupe. This renderfeatures multiple SL
design elements, such as the grille, bonnet and overall silhouette. The
headlight design however is pretty original, with hook-like DRL graphics and
lighting units embedded deep inside the front fenders. It’s both flashy and
futuristic at the same time.
While there’s no word on when we might see a new-age
electric sports car by Merc in real life, this shouldn’t be that long given its
commitment to electrification.
