Bajaj Auto has started to roll out the CBS (termed as Anti Skid Braking)
equipped model of its Platina 110 in the Indian market. The commuter motorcycle
was launched in India at an ex-showroom price tag of INR 49,300, which is INR
1,895 more than the standard model that retails for INR 47,405 (ex-showroom
Delhi).
Apart from the
addition of the CBS, there are no changes to the motorcycle. The 115.45cc,
air-cooled, SOHC DTS-i engine delivers 8.6 PS of maximum power at 7,000 rpm and
9.81 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.
Stopping power comes
from a 130mm and 110mm drum unit at the front and rear respectively. A
telescopic fork with 135 mm travel at the front and a spring-in-spring type
twin-sided suspension with 110 mm travel at the rear support the motorcycle.
The Platina been
clocking impressive sales in the M1 (100cc) segment. A report from November
stated that Bajaj Auto planned to update for the Platina to uplift sales. In
August, a test mule of the Bajaj Platina 125 was spied testing in India.
However, in an interview in September, Bajaj Auto’s Managing Director, Rajiv
Bajaj stated that there are no plans to stretch the Platina range into the
125cc segment as it will dilute the brand in India.
