An entry-level cruiser motorcycle was photographed
last week alongside the Romet ADV 125FI Pro in India. While many claimed it to
be an upcoming UM Renegade series model, it turns out that the two-wheeler is
the Regal Raptor DD125E.
Back in 2015, Regal Raptor Motorcycles partnered
with Hyderabad-based FAB Motors to launch three cruiser motorcycles in India -
the Daytona 350 (INR 3.22 lakh*), Cruiser 350 (INR 2.96 lakh*) and Bobber 350
(INR 3.33 lakh*).
Whether Regal Raptor and FAB Motors are planning to
launch the bike in India, or the motorcycle is a private import is not known
yet. That said, the Regal Raptor DD125E will make for a decent competitor for
the Suzuki Intruder 150. However, pricing would be the key differentiator as
CBU import, or CKD assembly will lead to a higher sticker price.
The Regal Raptor DD125E is powered by a 125cc
parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor with a Delphi EFI system. This kind of an
engine construction in such a small displacement powertrain is a rarity and
makes it expensive. The company claims that the motor is quite refined,
produces better low and mid-range torque and delivers high fuel economy. The
engine is good for 11 PS of power at 9,500 rpm and is mated to a five-speed
transmission. It has a claimed mileage of 41.24 km/l.
The cruiser has an unladen weight (kerb) of 170 kg
and a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. The Regal Raptor DD125E rides on a
15-inch rear and 18-inch front alloy wheels that wrap on 130/90 and 90/90
tubeless tyres, respectively. The motorcycle measures 2230 mm in length, 840 mm
in width and 1140 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 1550 mm and a saddle
height of 700 mm. The motorcycle can sprint to a top speed of 90 km/h.
