IAB reader Ujwal Chopra has spotted an uncamouflaged
unit of the second-gen BMW X4 in Chennai. The coupe brethren of the latest-gen
BMW X3 should launch in the local market in the coming months. The latest-gen BMW X4 measures
4,572 mm in length, 1,918 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height. It has a
wheelbase of 2,864 mm. Compared to the earlier version, the new iteration is 81
mm longer, 37 mm wider and 3 mm lower. Its wheelbase is 54 mm longer.
On the inside, the all-new BMW X4 looks a lot like
the 2019 BMW X3. The talking points of the cabin include a 12-inch all-digital
instrument cluster, full-colour head-up display with 70% higher projection
area, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control feature
and three-zone automatic climate control.
Internationally, the BMW X4 is on sale with seven
engine options. In India, however, is expected to come with 252 hp 2.0-litre
petrol and 265 hp 3.0-litre diesel engine options, along with ZF-sourced
8-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive AWD system as standard.
The second-gen BMW X4 will come to India as a CKD
import, with assembly taking place at the Chennai plant. The new model will
rival the Mercedes GLC Coupe. It is likely to have a sticker price of
approximately INR 65 lakh (ex-showroom).
