Maruti Suzuki has released the first teaser of the
2019 WagonR. The company is marketing the third generation model as the “Big
New WagonR”. The 2019 Maruti Wagon R is bigger than its predecessor and has much
better proportions. The third generation measures 3,655 mm in length, 1,620 mm
in width and 1,675 mm in height. It has a 2,435 mm wheelbase.
A leaked brochure image has shown that six planned
exterior colour options: Superior White, Silky Silver, Magma Grey (new), Autumn
Orange (new), Nutmeg Brown (new) and Poolside Blue (new). The car in the teaser
is in the Poolside Blue colour. Inside, as in the outgoing model, a dual-tone
colour scheme is standard.
Maruti Suzuki will sell the 2019 Wagon R in three
grades: LXi, VXi and ZXi. Key features will include power adjustable and
folding ORVMs, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto, tilt adjustable steering with audio and Bluetooth controls and
60:40 split folding rear seats. The company will equip all grades with ABS with
EBD, speed alert system, rear parking sensors, SBR and a driver-side airbag.
For more safety equipment, customers will have to go for the VXi or ZXi grade.
The engine options available for the 2019 Maruti
Wagon R will include the K10B 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit (68 PS/90
Nm) and the K12M 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit (83 PS/113 Nm). These
engines will send drive to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a
5-speed automated manual transmission.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2019 Wagon R on the
23rd of this month, with prices likely starting close to INR 4.50 lakh
(ex-showroom).
