The upcoming 2019 Yamaha FZ-S ABS has been spotted
ahead of the Indian launch on 21 January, these images have been floating on
social media and platforms this afternoon. It is the first time that the FZ-S
has been spotted without any camouflage and in production-ready form.
Spy images reveal the front of the motorcycle that
now features a full LED headlight with LED DRL. The lower half of the headlamp
resembles the unit on the quarter-litre FZ25 while the upper part gives the
FZ-S its own unique identity. Pair of conventional blinkers accompanies the new
LED light. The motorcycle continues to feature a body coloured mask. Another
highlight is the dual tone front fender that features a black centre while the
sides get the body colour finish.
The front disc on the motorcycle reveals the ABS
sensor. The recently launched Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 received a dual-channel ABS.
However, the FZ range competes in a lower price bracket and thus it will most
likely come with a single-channel unit. Another feature visible in the spy images is the new
engine under cowl that is added on the 2019 range. Moreover, The muscular look
of the fuel tank is now joined by air-intakes that give the FZ-S an even
sportier persona.
The 2019 Yamaha FZ will come with a
redesigned tail section with a single-piece seat and new rear grab rails. The
exhaust, as seen in the previous spy images, is almost identical to the FZ25.
The BS-VI upgrade is not likely to arrive on the
Yamaha FZ FI V3.0 and we will most likely see the same engine on the upcoming
motorcycle that also propelled the outgoing version. Thus, expect to see a
149cc single-cylinder, fuel injected motor that generates maximum power of 13.2
PS and a peak torque of 12.8 Nm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
The current FZ FI is sold at INR 81,540
(ex-showroom) and we expect to see a price increase of approximately INR 10,000
on the 2019 model.
