We’re only a few hours away from being officially
introduced to the facelifted BMW 7-Series. on’t go looking for it at the
2019 Detroit Auto Show, as BMW, along with other companies like Audi and
Mercedes-Benz, has chosen not to attend this year’s edition. Instead, they will
present it during a special event hosted internally, at BMW Welt.
The unveiling of the car is set for January 16, and
despite the recent leaks, BMW released another new teaser image. It partially
reveals the front end which dominated by a gigantic kidney grille that’s
inspired by the one used on the X7 SUV. The image also partially reveals the
slimmer headlamps and restyled bumper as well.
We already saw the 2020 7-Series on a couple of
occasions these past few weeks. Thus, we know what to expect in terms of
exterior design. Also, our vigilant spy photographers managed to snap the cabin
as well, which will feature an updated infotainment system and redesigned
instrument cluster, among others.
One of the biggest enigmas so far is the engine
lineup. Still, previous reports revealed that it will be powered by the usual
assortment of petrol and diesel units in Europe, some of them coming from the
8-Series and X7. North America will miss out on oil burners completely.
Further down the road, the revised 7-Series family
will be completed by the plug-in hybrid model. It’s been said that it will be
more powerful than the outgoing 740e xDrive, which has a total output of 322 hp
and sprints to 96 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
