Porsche is a bit late to the big SUV coupe party,
but wants to stir the waters with the first-ever Cayenne Coupe. The name hasn’t been officially
confirmed yet, but it was scooped on several occasions last year.
The steeply-raked roofline will be its signature
design feature on the outside. The rear number plate slot, which is now found
on the bumper instead of the tailgate, as well as other revised features, will
further differentiate it from the regular Cayennes. The taillights remain under
wraps, so we cannot say whether Porsche has come with a new design.
With the sloping roofline, taller passengers won’t
feel that comfortable on the rear bench, as headroom will no doubt be affected,
and so will the boot capacity, over the regular Cayenne. Elsewhere, the
interior will be jammed with new technologies, such as the large 12.3-inch
infotainment system, new gauge cluster and other features.
Recent reports suggest that the twin-turbo 2.9-liter
V6 will be part of the engine family. The 440 PS unit, which
is found in the regular Cayenne as well, could be joined by the 550 PS twin-turbo 4.9-liter V8. Also, a plug-in hybrid variant appears to be
in the pipeline, whereas diesel fans will probably be left without a choice.
