Dacia’s Sandero Stepway UK range has received two new engines in the entry-level SCe 75 petrol and the new-generation Blue dCi 95 diesel, as well as revised trim-levels. Pricing now starts from £ 8,995 OTR.

The SCe 75 unit is only available in Essential trim, with a manual transmission. It also has a CO2 output of 124g/km and comes with 95 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm. It needs 16.7 seconds to get you from zero to 100 km/h, and its top speed is a modest 156 km/h.

If you want better performance in a straight line, your best bet is the TCe 90 turbo petrol, with 90 PS and 140 Nm of torque. It can get you to 100 km/h from a standstill in 11.1 seconds. Not exactly fast, but it is technically the quickest Sandero Stepway version you can buy in the UK.

On the diesel side, you can now opt for a new-gen Blue dCi 95 unit, available with a manual transmission across two trim levels (Essential and Comfort) – priced from £ 11,195. This engine also has 220 Nm of torque, and a CO2 output of 103g/km. As for its 0-100 time, it’s 12.3 seconds, although the torque should make mid-range pulls more enjoyable than in the TCe 90.

If you opt for the Essential trim, you get air conditioning, electric front windows, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, body colored bumpers and 16-inch “alloy-look” wheels. The Comfort trim on the other hand, adds the touchscreen MediaNav sat-nav system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, cruise control, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors and electric rear windows.
