Force Motors has started testing the BSVI-compliant
Gurkha on the roads, a spy shot released by ZigWheels has revealed. Last month,
the company had launched the Xtreme variant of the special utility vehicle.
The test mule seen here is the 3-door version of the
Xplorer variant of the Force Gurkha. The Xplorer and Xpedition variants use the
FM 2.6 CR 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces 85 hp at 3,200 rpm and 230 Nm
of torque at 1,400-2,400 rpm. However, this engine isn’t expected to get upgraded
from BSIV to BSVI.
The newly launched Xtreme variant of the Force
Gurkha employs the FM 2.2 CR 2.2-litre diesel engine that develops 140 hp at
3,800 rpm and 321 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,400 rpm. It is paired with a new G32
5-speed manual transmission. The test mule likely has the BSVI-compliant FM 2.2
CR engine under the hood. This engine could become standard with the BSVI
rollout, making the Xplorer and Xpedition variants costlier.
The FM 2.2 CR engine was made available for
customers with the launch of the Force Gurkha Xtreme last year, but it has
existed since 2014. It was used for the RFC (Rain Forest Challenge)-spec Force
Gurkha before. The Force Gurkha’s prices currently start at INR 9.75 lakh* and go up
to INR 12.99 lakh*. Below is the complete price list.
