Mercedes-Benz India
has silently launched a petrol version of the recently introduced 2018 C-Class
facelift. Priced at ₹ 43.46 lakh (ex-showroom, India) the new Mercedes-Benz
C-Class petrol - the C200 - only comes in one trim, Progressive, and shares its
features list with its diesel counterpart, the C220d. Mercedes-Benz dealers have
confirmed that the car is on sale and deliveries will start sometime in early
January 2019. The biggest change, however, is that the new facelifted C-Class
petrol is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
The new 1.5-litre
engine powering the Mercedes-Benz C200 is a four-cylinder unit that produces
181 bhp at 5,800-6,100 rpm and develops 280 Nm of peak torque at 3,000-4,000
rpm. The highlight here is that the C200 comes paired with what Mercedes calls
the 'EQ Boost' - a mild-hybrid system that comes with a 48-volt electric motor
which offers an additional 16 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. Transmission duties,
however, will continue to be taken care of by the tried and tested 9G Tronic
automatic unit.
Visually, and in
terms of features, as mentioned before, the new C200 is identical to the C220d.
This means the car will come with the same chrome-twin-slat grille LED
High-Performance headlamps, integrated LED daytime running lamps, panoramic
sliding sunroof, twin-5-spoke alloy wheels, and LED taillamps, among others.
The cabin too comes with the same Avantgarde interior package with an all-black
treatment and a 64 colour ambient light package as well.
It will also come
with the all-new 10.25-inch media display screen and new generation telematics.
The system also gets the NGT 5.5 smartphone integration system that allows you
to connect your device via Bluetooth to use telephony and music functions. The
display itself comes with the higher resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels for
superior image quality with a pin-sharp display of all infotainment content.
