The Vanquish
Zagato Shooting Brake model is not their first-ever GT wagon, because that
would mean forgetting about the DB5 Shooting Brake or the more recent Virage
Shooting Brake, which had a very short production run back in the early 90s. Nowadays, people who can afford
to purchase ultra-expensive GTs understand there’s been a shift in perception
when it comes to surprisingly practical supercars or luxury cars. Otherwise, we
would have never seen a Ferrari FF, or a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.
So knowing that, we’re not the least bit worried
about how well something like the Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake will do for
itself in terms of sales, especially since Aston Martin will reportedly only
build 99 of them. We’re not sure what Aston Martin is doing with this particular
prototype, as we’ve already seen the first production samples (remember this
controversial pink-colored model?) being readied for delivery, but it was
spotted in southern Europe.
Essentially, it’s simply a more practical take on
the Vanquish Zagato Concept unveiled a couple years back at Villa d’Este. The
rear end design is nowhere near as sleek as the Concept‘s, which is of course
by design so as to give the Ferrari GTC4Lusso a run for its money. However practical it may look,
don’t expect to take the kids to school in it, because according to Aston
Martin, the Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake is a “strict two-seater”, where its
wagon-style roof is only meant to let more light into the cabin and allow for
more luggage space.
Meanwhile, interior features include a herringbone
carbon fiber trim, anodized bronze controls, optional aniline leather
upholstery and a power tailgate, sheltering a tailored luggage set.
