Kia has announced pricing and specifications for the
new-generation Ceed GT, Ceed GT-Line and ProCeed model in the United Kingdom. Building on the success of the
previous Cee’d GT and Pro_Cee’d GT, which were launched in 2013, the new Ceed
GT starts from £ 25,535, undercutting the more powerful VW
Golf GTI by £ 5,400.
It uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder
engine, rated at 201 PS and 265 Nm of torque. The
sole transmission offered in the UK is a six-speed manual, although an optional
seven-speed auto is available in other markets. The GT hits 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h.
Among the standard equipment, customers will find an
8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay,
sat-nav, heated front seats, keyless entry and dusk-sensing headlights. Vehicle
Stability Management, High Beam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist with Forward
Collision Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning and other safety systems
will assist drivers.
The Ceed GT-Line comes in five different grades,
with prices ranging between £ 21,535 and £ 27,185. Customers can choose between a 118 PS 1.0-liter and a 138 PS 1.4-liter petrol, or a 134 PS 1.6-liter diesel. The petrol options come with either a six-speed
manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission, whereas the oil burner is only
available with a stick shift.
Distinctive design features inspired by the GT,
unique 17- or 18-inch wheels, black roof lining inside, a flat-bottom steering
wheel wrapped in leather, new sports seats and GT-Line S exclusive black
leather and faux suede upholstery with grey stitching set them apart from the
regular Ceeds.
Available in six different versions and with two
engine options for the GT-Line, the new ProCeed is priced from £ 23,835. It comes with a 1.4-liter petrol that produces 138 PS and 242 Nm of torque, or a 1.6-liter diesel, rated at
134 PS and up to 320 Nm of torque. Both units can
be paired to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed auto.
Clients willing to spend at least £ 28,135 on the new ProCeed can get the GT grade. It uses the same
engine as the warm hatch, namely the 201 PS 1.6-liter petrol,
which is married to a 7-speed automatic gearbox this time.
An 8-inch touchscreen display, smartphone
integration, Bluetooth, dual-zone air-con, automatic windscreen wipers and
headlights, heated front seats and smart entry system are part of the standard
equipment. Additionally, higher specs get wireless smartphone charging, an
electric sunroof, electric tailgate and a JBL sound system. The ProCeed will go on sale
locally on January 21.
