With the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon coming soon, Suzuki
has announced some of its exhibits that will be present at the show. Out of the
three concepts that will be presented, two of them are based on the latest Jimny.
The first is a rather exciting prospect as it is a
Jimny that has been converted to a pick-up truck. Suzuki used a Jimny in Sierra
trim to create the concept, which replaces the rear seats and parts of the cab
for a shorted bed.
It also features a gold paintjob, wood sides, a new
grille, white roof, light bar and white wheels with chrome hubcaps. The company
says the concept was designed for customers who require the convenience of a
pickup for DIY stuff, adventuring, or other hobbies.
As for the other concept, the Jimny Survive concept
preserves the bodywork of the small off-roader but adds on plenty of
adventuring gear. New metal bumpers replace the originals ones and give better
approach and departure angles, as a start.
Also present is an external rollover cage, a winch,
additional metal plating, new wheels and deployable off-road ramps. Meanwhile, the third concept
comes in the form of the Swift Sport Yellow Rev, which comes with a special
colour loosely translated from Japanese to ‘High Chroma Yellow Pearl’ – the
colour of Suzuki Sport. The show car receives some custom decals and a black
roof as well.
